Betty is a quiet shy girl who really needs a special friend to love her. She is wearing her Sunday best dress, the one with the lace around the hem, and she is wearing her favourite belt with the hearts all round. Her hair has been curled into ringlets and tied with ribbons to match her dress. She just couldn't find any clean socks, and is a little embarrassed that the only ones she has left are a bit grubby.
Betty is from a pattern by Annie Smith.
This gorgeous sewing roll is made from "100% Pure Virgin Wool" vintage blanketing and is lined with prairies cloth - my favourite cotton fabric in the whole world. The inside has a whip stitched photo of Granny and Pa in front of one of Granny's new quilts, and 2 small pockets. The middle pocket is trimmed with vintage lace and it too, is whip stitched. It measures 2-1/2" wide and 3-1/2" long (6cm x 9cm). The lower pocket has the original label from the blanket, complete with the Trade Mark Reg. No. It is attached with open backstitch and is cross stitched across the top. This pocket measures 2-1/2" x 3" (6cm x 8cm). All stitchery is done with wool thread.
This sewing roll is held closed with a button loop and one of Granny's old buttons. The stitchery on the front uses single and double strand wool thread.
The sewing roll is inspired by a design by "Rusty Pins and Old Lace", and the thread spool stitchery is a design by Cherie Saffiote-Payne.
Scissors and other items in pockets are for display only and are not included.
Measures 12-1/2" long and 3-1/4" wide (34cm x 8cm) when open, and 4-1/2" long x 3-1/4" wide (11.5cm x 8cm) when closed.
I just love how this worked out. I based it on an old fabric roll up pocket my Great-Grandma made to keep postcards in. It is made with a vintage blanketing lining and prairie cloth on the outside, and is designed to hold those really special little treasures we collect along life's journey.
All stitchery is done with wool thread. I've whip stitched a photo of a young girl on the front, and stitched "Memories" above her. The little stitchery on the inside is adapted from one by Cherie Saffiote-Payne. Wide cotton tape is feather stitched to the hem of the inside pocket, and narrow cotton tape is used to secure the pocket closed.
Measures 5-1/2" x 11" (14cm x 28cm) when open, and 5-1/2" x 6" (14cm x 15cm) when closed. The inside pocket measures 5-1/2" (14cm) square.
This is from a pattern by Sun Valley Primitives, and is ideal for Valentine's Day for a special friend.
The hearts have both been antiqued with walnut ink, and the large central heart of one of them has been painted and sanded. Both have many many small white buttons glued to surround the centre heart. The hair of the small side faces is knotted wool tufts. Rusty wire has been sewed to the back to hang the heart with.
I just love making beaded jewellery! This black chain necklace has been embellished with red and black glass, crystal and metal beads. Length - 45 cm.
It comes in a really cute pillow-shaped box.
This silver chain is gorgeous! I just love how it worked out. I have used mostly mother of pearl beads and buttons, with a few delicate silver beads as well. The double chain at the centre front adds an extra WOW! Chain length - 18" (46 cm), and the second chain adds an extra 1-1/2" (4cm) drop.

It is made from prairie cloth and stitched with wool thread. The front has a photo of Granny and Pa standing in front of Granny's new quilt. Inside is a small pocket hemmed with lace, and 2 small stitcheries based on some by Cherie Saffiote-Payne. It is secured with a vintage button held with a button loop.
Items in pocket are for display only, and are not included.

Primitive Angel of Hope - combination resin and rusty tin. It looks for all the world like it is made of wood. Great piece. It is much better than the photograph depicts.
